The front page articles today has got me all hot and bothered again. I’ve always loved the 3000 GT/Stealth cousins.
This pristine (although currently not running) 100% stock unmodified 1993 Dodge Stealth R/T just popped up on my local classifieds. It’s a California car with only 94,xxx miles with the 222hp non turbo V6 mated to a Manuel transmission. It’s listed at $2,500 bucks but the seller is flexible. He believes it is a spark issue that is causing the no start.
If a person could pick this up for let’s say $2K-ish and hopefully fix the issue for not much money it could be a fun little car me thinks

Offer him $2k and fix it up. Best case, you get a cheap, awesome car that you like with a stick for 2 grand. Worst case, you have a cool project car or part it out for profit.

No start issues are the worst. At least if it’s running like crap you have a patient with symptoms. Autopsy, on the other hand, is tricky if you’re trying to reanimate.

Oppo steered me away from it last summer. So it must be bad.

That’s what I was thinking. Even if I had to replace the motor completely or do a complete engine overhaul It would still be a cheap car since the car itself is in fantastic shape.

Why not? A non-riced anything Japanese that's remotely cool is frustrating to find.

That’s what I’m afraid of but on the other hand what if it’s like a $50 part and the car is up and running perfectly again? Might be worth the gamble.

I’m only morose and negative on the issue because a friend’s Powerstroke has now been down for months after a simple glow plug job, because it refused to start afterwards. Yeah.

That’s exactly it. You would probably never find a bone stock one like this again for this type of money. I could easily make a healthy profit on this thing if I ever decide to sell if I played my cards right.

Yes they are a bit temperamental at times and I can’t say I’d suggest one as a daily but at this price if I can get it running fairly easy it could be a great deal.

Once you have the gremlins sorted you would have an absurdly clean Stealth/3000GT. You certainly could pull a wheeler dealer-esque flip with this (not sure for how much though I am not an expert on these).

At minimum in this condition would be at least $4500 and up in good running condition. If I could fix it for under $500 I’d be in a real nice position.

Here’s a very important fact that’s not very important, while simultaneously barely even relevant...
Walker Texas Ranger’s partner, Ranger James Trivette, drove a Stealth.
You’re welcome.

I’ll keep this one quiet. Big brother might be reading and I’m HIGHLY considering getting this.

That looks like an ES not an RT.

Really? I thought the ES only came with the 4cyl? This one is the V6 with leather so I thought it was an R/T. In the big picture would that really matter is it’s a ES vs RT?

My last DSM had a no start issue, ended up being a $7 Radio Shack relay ($50 OEM). It was intermittent though, but until I got to fixing it, it was easy enough to work around. Every time it didn’t start, just pop the hood and give the relay a wack, good to go.
Of course, it could be something much worse, but you’ll never know unless you get it.

Base model Stealth came with a 6 cylinder single overhead cams 3.0L, no side skirts or spoiler. ES came with the 3.0L DOHC no turbo and had side skirts and rear spoiler. RT had the same 3.0L DOHC non turbo with extra aggressive bumpers, side skirts, b pillar trim, and rear spoiler. The RT/TT had the AWD AWS Twin Turbo, and the rest of the goodies.
My dad had a base model 91 stealth and the thing was a blast to drive, still haven’t driven a DOHC one. My ideal situation would be to get an RT/TT and drive it until something major breaks, then do a RWD conversion (longitudinal style).

I think it ruins what would otherwise be a beautiful line from windshield to tail lamps.
